CBR is the oldest and most respected comic book culture website in the world. It is the internet’s first and final stop for nerd culture, news, commentary and community. 

Our editorial team is looking for writers to create fun, informative, and engaging Gaming Reviews that our discerning audience demands, with the eye-catching aesthetic they crave. The selected candidate will have tremendous career growth and internal development opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications 

• A passion for video games, writing reviews, and a drive to grow within the industry 
• Broad working knowledge of video games and access to a: 
  • PC
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series S/X
• Up to date with new games 
• The ability to analyze content and pull directly from the source material to back up claims 
• A sharp eye for grammatical details 
• Excellent command of the English language 
• Ability to write high-quality articles with swift turn-around times 
• Comfortable working in an entirely virtual environment 
• Should possess a general understanding of video game culture and strong research skills
• Are you a verified Metacritic, Open Critic, or Rotten Tomatoes reviewer and/or have a Google Knowledge panel? Please list all below. Only candidates with at least one of these four profiles will be considered for the critic role.

Responsibilities 

• Keep up to date with new video games releases
• Receive review codes to play through new games to completion
• Write a minimum of 3 reviews (1,400 words) per week in CBR’s house style (following the requisite training) 
  • Reviews will be assigned based on each writer’s expertise and CBR’s needs
• This will include fact-checking, formatting, linking, and image sourcing
• Accept and apply any/all feedback received by the editorial team
• Communicate openly and actively with the editorial team
